Online Hearing Aid Manufacturers Who Sell Direct To Consumers
Here is our list of hearing aids available for purchase over the Internet directly from manufacturers. Most cost far less than hearing aids from major manufacturers based on comparable technology. The difference in price is in the service you get. There’s no local audiologist involved to program the hearing aids for you, so for custom programming you must submit a copy of a recent hearing test, which the manufacturer uses to program the hearing aids at the factory. This is not an exhaustive list but does include established online brands. To purchase FDA approved hearing aids over the internet, you must either submit a doctor’s written recommendation or sign a waiver saying you do not want a medical evaluation and that you have been informed that “exercise of the waiver is not in the user’s best health interest.” In other words, always see a doctor (ideally an ENT) and get your hearing tested by a certified audiologist if you notice any problem with your ears or hearing. And if you decide not to, proceed at your own risk!
NOTE: If you are trying hearing aids for the first time, you can opt for a less expensive PSAP (personal sound amplification product) to get an idea of what sound clarification and amplification can do for you. (Click here for a separate Hearing Mojo list of PSAP manufacturers. To better understand the difference between over-the-counter sound amplifiers and FDA-approved hearing aids, see the FDA explanation and a previous Hearing Mojo post on PSAPs).
