A recent report from Hearing Tracker revealed the true cost of hearing aids. Over 2000 current hearing aid users were surveyed and asked where they purchased their hearing aids, which technology level they purchased, and how much they paid (out-of-pocket) for their devices.
Report highlights:
- 84% purchased a pair of hearing aids versus purchasing a single device
- 54.1% purchased top-end technology
- 25% purchased Phonak, with Oticon, ReSound, and Widex being the next most popular brands
- The average price for a single hearing aid was $2,560
- The average price for a single hearing aid, when purchased as part of a pair, was $2,336
- The average price for a top-end hearing aids was $2,651
- The average price for a low-end hearing aid was $1,604
- Starkey, Widex, and Beltone had the highest average price per device
- Consumers saved an average of $1000 when purchasing brand-name hearing aids at Costco
